Detailed explanation of steps and sequence details. But the end result is not shown! Without summarizing small pieces, the observer’s eye does not see a clear picture due to the fine grid of lines. There are NO similarities at least in general! And the main task and goal is resemblance to nature. In the end, everything you did was useless! I would recommend drawing more to better feel the proportions and plasticity of the line.

Over the course of the blocking in , I wondered ifthe model thought the work resembled her grandmother, and then her mother, because like you said, the portrait looked very old, and then younger and younger!

Is there somewhere where we could see the tools you use? Im interested in knowing where you get them from. Or if you make them yourselves, or have an artisan make them.

A very interesting video! I keep forgetting this as a self-taught artist, I keep forgetting that taking a picture of something up close and then looking at it in real life could produce two different references, and affect the depth in the workю Will be coming back to this for a refresher 👏 Fascinating also, how the same concept has been going around TikTok in relation to selfies, explaining why people hate how they look super close in their front cameras vs their mirror or group pictures, and why their arm-legth selfies look so different from the reflection in teh mirror, too

Try brushing paper with clear water first. This permits the pigment to flow more easily. Works well for me.

I'm using one that works great called veaux chêne. It's a powder used to tone wood but if you get it in powder you can mix with water and tone paper. It gives a brown redish tone. I think my teacher said you can mix red watercolor with it to make it redder
